Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia’s capital city. KL has diversity. It is home to 1.6 million people of many different races, and cultures. Because of its cosmopolitan population and diverse cultural heritage, Kuala Lumpur is a melting pot. For example, one day, I was having lunch at Arena Food Court, and suddenly a Chinese student said 'hi' to me, but he said it in Chinese! Ni Hao! I was confused. Maybe he thought that I was from China. After lunch, I went to Rumez hotel. I decided to have a smoke this is my usual habit, but I realized that I forgot my lighter. Thankfully, there was a boy who was standing there. I asked him for lighter and thank god he had it. I was saved and guess what? He was Indonesian. I met two different people from two different countries today. This was amazing experience for me.

<Reflection>

My impression on Kuala Lumpur is it is comparable to Seoul. When I saw the Petronas Twin Tower, the experience made an indelible impression on me. The first tower was constructed in Japan and the second one in Korea. I felt very proud as a Korean to know this. In addition, when I saw the Kuala Lumpur Twin Tower, I felt a sense of belonging. It is very similar to the Nam san Tower in Seoul. I did not know Kuala Lumpur is good place for shopping when I was in Korea. However, I can see that KLCC Suria Mall is a very trendy mall and Chinatown is the best place for replicas or fake branded stuff. In fact, shopping have become a part of my daily life, so I am now bankrupt! According to CNN World's 12 best shopping cities, Kuala Lumpur is ranked fourth in the rankings and Seoul is twelfth. KL's impressive score comes from affordable prices and reliable sales. I think that KL is a much better place to shop than Seoul.

Introduction

This is Batu Caves, which is the holy place of Hinduism in Malaysia.
It is located at the north side of Kuala Lumpur. If you want to go to Batu Caves, you better take the KTM from the KL Sentral Station to the Batu Caves Station.
These caves were founded in 1878 by an American traveler named Ceasar Pelli. It is said that Batu Caves has legends related with Hindu Gods. It consists of 3 major caves and many other smaller caves.
In order to go to the caves you have to go up the stairs. And there are 272 stairs in total. The number 272 means the sins that humans can commit. So the meaning is that when people go up the stairs, they reflect on the sins they have committed.
At the top of the stairs, there is a Hindu temple. And inside of the caves, you can find many statues of Hindu gods.
Malaysia is a multicultural country. There are three major religions in this country. The dominant religion in Malaysia is Islam and there are 60.4% of Malaysians who believe in Islam. There are also many other religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism.
There are so many holidays because of this multicultural feature. Malaysian government allows holidays for each religion. For example, Christmas, Chinese New Year, and Deepavali have been declared national holidays alongside the Islamic holidays.
